Springtime in Holland

I never know when something or somewhere to photograph will call to me. But when it does, look out! Tulips in Holland was calling to me and so my trip was planned. Numerous photographers had enthused about their visits to Keukenhof in the springtime. So here I was in line with thousand of others to see the place also known as the Garden of Europe. On average between 25,000 to 45,000 visit per day during the peak time and I was one of them! To say it was breathtaking is an understatement and around every corner a “wow” was uttered from my heart. [This is always exciting for me as the photographer!] However, to capture a beautiful landscape photograph without hoards of people in it was impossible and so I spent my time focusing on close up images. Not one to give up, the next morning I was determined to get my landscape shots. With tripod under arm and my backpack braced I was first in line and once through the gates I literally ran ahead of the crowds to get what I was looking for. This was one of the scenes captured of the beautiful gardens that morning, with the sun filtering through the trees. Magic! A beautiful “Springtime in Holland.”
